The GCDF Credential

Almost anyone can take the CDF training. However, if a person wishes to acquire the Global Career Development Facilitator (GCDF) credential, he or she must meet additional requirements.

The Global CDF certification is offered through the Center for Credentialing and Education, Inc. (CCE), a subsidiary of the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC). Global CDF credentialing requirements were developed by various organizations including the National Career Development Association (NCDA), the National Employment Counseling Association (NECA), and the National Association of Workforce Development Professionals (NAWDP) working with CCE.

In order to qualify for Global CDF certification, a person must meet the following requirements:

  • Have a combination of education and work experience as specified in the credential guidelines:
    • graduate degree plus an estimated one year of career development work experience
    • bachelor's degree plus an estimated two years of career development work experience
    • two years of college plus an estimated three years of career development work experience
    • a high school diploma/GED plus an estimated four years of career development work experience
  • Complete an approved CDF curriculum that includes 120 hours of classroom training and field experience (The curriculum offered by Kuder ETA has been developed by NCDA and is CCE-approved.)
  • Agree to be bound by a code of ethics

Benefits of the Global CDF Credential

  • A marketable credential
  • Professional recognition

In order to maintain the certification, individuals need to obtain 75 hours of continuing education within the areas of competency within a 5-year time frame.
